There are so many reasons to love the beach. Maybe it’s the salty smell that hits you, or the soft sand compressed between your toes, but for me the number one reason is the water. I have been in love with the water as long as I can remember because there is nothing better than the weightlessness of gliding through the ocean or bobbing in the waves. I knew I couldn’t take a trip to California without visiting one of its many beautiful beaches. By recommendation (and sheer convenience because we were only staying 15 minutes away) we ended up at Coronado Beach.
The beach is the backdrop to the famous Hotel Del Coronado which is a sight in itself, but nothing compares to the endless blue of the Pacific Ocean. We arrived early Saturday morning to be able to explore before the crowds descended. I don’t think I have ever felt softer sand!! It was amazing and shimmered under the sun because of all the Mica. We walked along the waters edge, just dipping our feet in the shallows because of the chilly water temperature, but it was the most peaceful way to start the day. It felt like we had the beach all to ourselves!
As more and more people started to arrive we claimed our little piece of sand, laid out our beach towels and spent the afternoon soaking up the sun. What I love about being on the beach in California is you never get too hot! The temperatures maybe reached the low 80s (which for us Texans is like a slice of heaven) and made it easy to pass the day. I am such a people-watcher so I can sit there for hours just being entertained by all of the things happening around me.
This sail boat tee was a must for San Diego! It is the softest shirt and was so appropriate for our lunch overlooking the sail boats off the coast. We ate at the Sheerwater restaurant at the hotel, and while it was a little pricy it was worth every penny! We split the crab cakes which were absolutely delicious.
There is really nothing better than beach hair and sun kissed skin after a long day by the ocean. Do you have any beach vacations coming up this summer? Hope you are all having a great week! xo Bryn
