I know I’ve said this before but I really can’t believe it’s Christmas in just two days! I have been loving the whole holiday season but as day actually approaches it feels less like Christmas. Today I will be finishing off the last few things on my list which will feel so good! This time of year can be so hectic so I need to remind myself to just slow down and enjoy the magic that is Christmas time.
Christmas Eve has always been the bigger day for my family. Since I can remember we have celebrated the night before. My family loves to eat out (no matter what day it is) so Christmas Eve is no exception. We get dressed up in our most festive outfits and go to dinner. After dinner we come home and open gifts. It’s so much more magical for me at night. We have the fire going, hot cocoa and Michael Bubble crooning in the background.
Christmas morning Brian, Bear and I have our own gift exchange at home. We stay in our Christmas PJs and spend the morning just relaxing. Later in the afternoon we make the rounds to all of our parents who cook various meals. Lunch at my parents, dinner at Brian’s.
That’s really the best part of the holidays… the traditions! This year will be different since Brian will not be home for Christmas or New Years. It will be hard for me to not have him here but I am always grateful for our families. Luckily for me our families live close by so I can still see everyone easily without having to travel far. Brian and I started dating in high school so I am very close to my in-laws. I haven’t known a holiday without them in almost a decade.
As I mentioned in this post, my side of the family usually dresses up for the holidays. It’s all part of making Christmas feel that much more special. Since velvet has been such a huge trend this year it’s perfect for Christmas Eve dinner. This swing dress is so cute paired over a turtleneck since it’s sleeveless and it’s a little too chilly for that!
I would love to hear how you and your family celebrate the holidays! What are some of your traditions? Let me know in the comments. However you celebrate, I want to wish you the happiest of holidays! xo Bryn

My favourite Christmas tradition is that my whole family stays in our PJs all of Christmas day and open our presents together. It’s such a fun time! I am loving your look Bryn! The dress over the frilly turtleneck is to die for!
