With Valentine’s Day just a few weeks away I can’t help but crave a little extra sweetness. It’s just that time of year when all the candy starts to line the aisles in the stores and the pink and red sprinkles appear. Valentine’s Day is all about spreading a little more love around after all. And even though I don’t go over the top with the celebrations, I will always take the opportunity to get dressed up for a date.
Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to play up the more romantic and feminine side of your style. It’s the one time of year that pinks and reds will dominate the scene. In an effort to not be completely cliché (because trust me I can get behind a theme like the best of them) I went for a more subtle approach. A shade of pink paired with a winter white sweater.
Speaking of this little sweater – it is the softest sweater I have ever owned!! I couldn’t believe how cozy it was when I pulled it out of the box. It’s under $20 and beats the quality of some of my much higher priced sweaters. It is one size and is more cropped on me so I knew it would be the perfect fit for my high-waisted skirt.
My pink pleated skirt is one of my favorite pieces in my closet right now. You saw it on the blog before here. It’s such a trendy style right now but I think the best part is how glamorous you feel wearing one. The fluidity of the skirt when you walk is guaranteed to give you a little more pep in your step!
On a normal date night I would probably opt for a cute flat to keep the look on the more causal side but for special occasions I pull out my glitter Louboutins. These beauties were my wedding shoe and because they are so precious to me I don’t wear them lightly. Valentine’s Day and our anniversary are two days that call for a little extra sparkle. I have linked a few different “special occasion” shoes below since mine are a couple of years old.
Brian will be getting home a couple of days after Valentine’s Day so we’ll have a belated date that will undoubtably involve something sweet for me. When in Rome… right?! What do you have planned for Valentine’s Day? Hope you have a great week! xo Bryn
