The Truth About Blogging

Happy Monday everyone! Today’s post is a little different but I wanted to share a few thoughts I had this weekend. I am quickly approaching my one year blogiversary (more on that to come) and I have a few thoughts I want to share about this crazy blog world. There are so many misconceptions about bloggers some of which being it’s all superficial, shopping and free stuff. While I definitely do my fair share of shopping, my experience with blogging has been so much deeper than I ever expected.

Over the weekend I had the opportunity to have lunch with a fellow blogger, Molly (check out her amazing blog here) and it got me thinking. Molly and I connected over Instagram a few months ago and met for the first time in person on Sunday. It was so much fun getting to talk with someone who is just as passionate about blogging as I am. There was no competition only support for each other.

This is where I think people get it wrong about bloggers. Over the year I have connected with so many amazing girls who inspire me every day. We are there for each other for the highs and the lows and that is what community is all about. While blogging can seem superficial, I have found that the girls (and guys) behind the blogs are the complete opposite.

Photoshoots are staged, of course. And we don’t all wake up with the most Instagram worthy breakfast in bed. It takes work and time to create beautiful and inspiring content but that’s what is so fun! When you are passionate about something it doesn’t feel like work and when you are constantly inspired by the people around you, it comes easily!

The outfits I share with you are actually outfits that I wear. I really do go buy flowers for my home every weekend. Yes I spend a fortune on flowers but it makes me happy. The products that I share are things I truly use. But at the end of the day the words that I write are the most important thing. For me blogging is all about connecting, and I have been so grateful for the opportunity to get to know so many amazing people through this blog.

There you have it! My truth on blogging. Yes it is hard work but it is also incredibly rewarding when you get the opportunity to connect with bloggers and readers all over the world who share your passions and interests. Thank you for reading and I hope that this inspires you to think less competitively. There is more than enough room for everyone to experience success! xo Bryn

P.S. Another truth about blogging… WIND!!! It ruins your hair!

I loved this post! I was thinking of doing something similar since I don’t talk about my personal life too much on my blog. But I definitely agree. I met up with some fellow blogger friends in LA last year and was so inspired by the energy. Nothing but love all around for each other and wanting to help each other’s blogs grow. As superficial as a blog can appear to be, there’s also a person behind that screen who puts in a ton of work at even weirder hours. A lot of people think we just take a beautiful photo and go…it can take awhile for that one perfect photo (and a lot of grumbles from the photographer). Overall, I do enjoy it and I am happy that I have someone who is willing to help as well!

So well said Meghan! It’s true… there is so much work involved and it can be hard for other people involved (ie the photographer) but it is such a rewarding experience and I love that it brings people together who have common interests who wouldn’t normally be able to connect. I enjoy your blog and following along so I would love to see a little more personal side as well! xo Bryn
