Where did this year go? I keep asking myself that! The fact that it is almost the end of 2016 is crazy! It has gotten much colder here this week and I am really aware of the fact that the end of the year is looming. Thanksgiving is a time for us all to reflect on what we are thankful for. I try not to rely on Thanksgiving to remind myself to be grateful but it is a great time of year.
So many things have changed this year and I have so much to be thankful for. For one thing, this blog! It was only a few months ago that I started Waketon Road and I am so grateful for the community that has grown from it. I have “met” so many amazing people through this blog and I am so happy to fill my days with positivity and inspiration. I started this journey without too many expectations and I could not be happier with the opportunities that have come thus far.
Since the holidays are all about family, I am thankful to be ableĀ to spend so much time with mine. Family means everything to me and I am grateful for them every single day. Brian and I have been together since we were in high school, so we are very close with each others families. I always look forward to seeing all of the extended family around this time of year. We all have our own traditions and schedules but I am so happy when we all end up in the same room.
I have been thinking about what I want to wear for Thanksgiving. Am I the only person who associates Thanksgiving with camel, hunter greens and burgundy? I seem to always wear those colors around the holiday so it has become a kind of tradition. I like to get a little dressed up for the holidays but comfort is always my number one priority. I’m thinking stretchy pants and an oversized sweater just like this look.
Recently I jumped on the faux leather leggings bandwagon. I’m not saying they are something I would wear all of the time, but IĀ think with the right outfit they are great! With the colder weather over the weekend I felt like it was time to break them out. They were great to break up all of my camel. I admit I have a slight obsessed with camel, but I think it’s under control. Right? Camel is such a classic color. I’ve talked about it on the blog before, but I just feel like you can never go wrong!
Around the holidays I start to add a little pop of red to my makeup routine. There is nothing more festive than a red lip. I recently found a few shades that I love, like the Bite in Red Velvet I am wearing in these photos. It’s such a true red and has amazing staying power. Something I always need from my reds.
I am curious what you areĀ thankful for this year? Let me know in the comments! I have one of my favorite gift guides going live tomorrow morning – it’s all under $50! See you tomorrow! xo Bryn

Love this look. For Thanksgiving I really don’t like to dress up too much… we are going to eat and drink and be in family so really… no biggie.

Love love love the camel pieces that you have shown us for this year. I need to be adding more to my wardrobe but I always reach for black instead. It’s a tough habit to crack!
