Well the first week of 2017 has been a busy one! I got home from a girls trip to San Francisco last Monday and spent the rest of the week trying to get back on track with my schedule. It’s funny how a quick weekend trip can totally reset your routine. Which is always a good thing… I don’t want to get too comfortable in my day-to-day. It felt so good to start the year off with something different. It makes me so excited for the year to come.
In this post last week I talked about my goals for 2017 both personally and professionally. I always feel a bit reflective at the beginning of each new year. We all need to take time to look back at the year and see how we have grown and the challenges we faced. That is the key to growth after all!
Looking back at the year gave me an idea of something I want to start to feature more on the blog. While I love sharing the latest addition to my closet, I think it’s also fun to restyle pieces you have already seen. That is more realistic after all since we wear our clothes more than just once!
Style is all about taking a piece you love and seeing the potential to wear it again and again. Like this duster that you’ve seen on the blog before. Originally I went for the more typical, casual approach to a duster. Throwing it on over jeans and a sweater keep the look relaxed. The dusty rose color was a natural choice with the blush sweater and black jeans.
This time I wanted to go for something a little more unexpected. I have always loved pairing a mini with something longer. The difference in hem lines is always attention grabbing. Pulling out the tall boots was both for style and necessity. Let’s be real, the cold weather and the mini skirt do not go great together.
One of my personal favorite ways to style a look is by picking a neutral color palette and then letting one piece be the pop. The black turtleneck and black bag paired with my cognac skirt and boots would be classic on their own, but adding the dusty rose just tops it off.
I wanted to share this duster with you again because it’s such a beautiful piece and is on clearance right now for under $60. It’s been such a versatile topper and something I always have fun styling.
I hope that your year is off to a great start! Thanks so much for stopping by! xo Bryn
Such a great coat! Have a great week, lady!
I love how you styled this coat here! I’m dying to wear a skirt, but it’s like 2 degrees in chicago, boo! you look adorable!
I was following along on your San Fran trip and it all looked so fun! Also, you are totally killing it in this outfit – that duster is simply gorgeous and I love that skirt! And I definitely agree that I need to be more realistic about featuring something more than once… after all, I wore the same outfit twice in a row this weekend haha!

I love your idea on re-styling what you have already worn! It is definitely more realistic than to only show new, new, new all the time. Fun!
