We had our first snow of the season over the weekend and let me tell you, it was like a winter wonderland around here! Just kidding, this is Texas… we had a light dusting and everyone acted like the world was ending. But it was pretty to watch the snow falling while staying cozy inside. Don’t worry though, we’re back up to mid 70s this week.
With all of the ups and downs in the temperatures, layers have been my best friend. Layering can create such a chic look that is also functional. I want to be able to shed my top layer and still be warm.
When I start to think of an outfit I try to plan out a color story. Especially when I am adding multiple pieces to a look. If I have too many colors and patterns the look can get messy. For this outfit I wanted to stay very neutral. My favorite neutral tones are the blush and camel shades. This look in black would be so chic but with black you tend to lose the depth and texture.
Playing with texture is the fun part of layering. My knit sweater is cozy and gives my base layer a softness. The linen blazer is ideal for a middle layer. It’s thin enough to go under an overcoat but still gives me an extra layer. I highly suggest investing in a good linen blazer. They are so versatile. You can see in this post that I wore it over a swing dress last summer. Most people think linen is only for spring or summer but I still find ways to wear it year round.
My camel coat is no stranger to the blog and always my go-to. The camel blends so beautifully with blush tones. It creates such a soft, luxurious feel. A black coat over the blush would be a totally different look (also amazing) but more of a stark contrast.
What are some of your favorite ways to layer? Most of us are experiencing some crazy temperatures right now so I’d love to know how you’re staying warm! Thanks so much for stopping by! xo Bryn

Thanks Jenn! Hope you’re having a wonderful week! xo Bryn
I love that bag; it’s so gorgeous! My favourite way to layer is with scarves and sweaters. Staying warm where I’m from is truly an art, and without a scarf, you will usually be chilly all day long!

Yes you really do need to layer up! And scarves are always a great layer! xo Bryn
Love the camel colours in this look ! The coat and blazer combo is such a good idea, that is one thing I always struggle with in the winter – being cold after you take off your coat, so smart ! Love it !
