It’s no secret that it gets hot in Texas. We are known for our crazy temperatures starting in May and going all through September. Because of this I have a few pieces that I use like a rotating uniform. If it is flowy and breathes then I know it will be perfect for the Texas summer. I have a large collection of maxi dresses that I wear throughout the season, but I recently found this pretty maxi skirt and fell in love.
A maxi skirt allows so many more options than a maxi dress. I can change the sleeve length by paring it with anything from a long sleeve light sweater to a spaghetti strap tank. Over the weekend I chose to wear it with this little white tee. I wanted the look to be casual for my weekend errands so I kept things simple. I could easily have put a silk tank top and a pair of wedges with the skirt and had a perfect Mother’s Day brunch look.
The maxi skirt has the prettiest small floral print. I love how soft the colors are so the pattern doesn’t overpower the lower half of your body. It also has pleating around the waist and a slit on the side. I always think this is much more flattering on any maxi skirt. It gives the skirt so much more movement as well.
My accessories are recent ShopBop sale scores. I felt like I needed to give my Cult Gaia bag a little bit of a rest. So, when I saw this Kayu bag I knew it would make the perfect addition. The wood handles are so unique and I love the bright yellow lining that slightly peeks through the woven bag. My sandals are from Blank Canvas and I found them to run a little large.
I’ll be adding even more maxi skirts to my wardrobe this season. I love how easy they are to wear. It’s definitely a great style for the warmer season. I have shared a few more of my favorite styles below. xo Bryn

That skirt is so flattering! And I love the new bag! I can definitely attest to the Texas temperatures and I pretty much live in skirts/dresses during the summer to compensate.
