I’m not sure what’s gotten into me this week but I have gone into major clean-out mode. Every once and while I get the urge to purge! It usually happens in between seasons when I know it’s time to start transitioning my wardrobe. I start looking around my house at what is just collecting dust. I try to clean out my closet every couple of months but a major over-hall of everything in the house happens more on a quarterly basis. This past weekend was just the beginning of the clean out but it got me thinking about what I really use.
When it comes to clothes I have so many beautiful pieces that I love, but they aren’t necessarily things I would wear everyday. It’s kind of sad when I think about the collection of dresses that are just hanging there waiting for an occasion. I love getting dressed up but realistically I’m going to wear jeans and a sweater most days during fall or winter. It’s just what I’m most comfortable in and it makes the most sense for the cold days.
Since I wear sweaters so often, I’ve gotten pretty picky about the quality. I can’t stand a scratchy sweater! Especially in the winter when my skin is dry. A high quality sweater that is comfortable to wear can be pretty pricy. So when I noticed that one of my favorite brands, Everlane, launched a $100 Cashmere Collection I knew I needed to try one.
I have several Everlane pieces and even have Brian hooked on the brand. I’m a fan of their quality but also their approach to transparent fashion. My first purchase from the brand was this cotton cropped sweater (last seen here). It’s become one of my favorite sweaters. I recently ordered this Cashmere Crew and I’m completely in love!
The color is a bit more vibrant in person, I was hoping for a softer pink but it’s still a beautiful shade. It’s incredibly comfortable against my skin and keeps me warm. I’m a long-time fan of cashmere but I don’t always like the price tag associated with a good cashmere sweater. The quality of this cashmere is on par with a sweater that would be two or three times the price.
Since I am going through my big clean-out I’m thinking more about the pieces I want to wear. Quality is so important to me. I would rather have fewer pieces that are higher quality than have so many things that I never reach for. I don’t think I could ever do a capsule wardrobe, but I definitely appreciate the “less is more” approach! xo Bryn
