When we were planning our Lake Garda itinerary, there was one town I knew I was not going to miss. Limone sul Garda had me hooked right away. It might be one of the more well-known towns around the lake, but for good reason. It is so picturesque and filled with so much charm. We checked out of our hotel in Gardone Riviera and headed north towards our next stop, Riva Del Garda. The intention was to spend the majority of the day in Limone, which is about halfway between our two home bases.

I fell in love with Limone instantly, as I knew I would. My favorite part was all of the little hidden lemons everywhere. It became a sort of scavenger hunt to find the little lemon plaques mounted on the buildings or under your feet.

We got to Limone a little before noon and made our way to the center of town. We always tried to eat lunch close to the water in every town around the lake. It may have meant eating at the more touristy spots, but you just can’t beat the view. After our lunch we grabbed a double scoop cone of gelato and started exploring.

My favorite part about traveling is wandering around the quieter streets away from all of the tourists. You get a much better representation of the town or city you are visiting when you get away from the tourist traps. Limone, like every Lake Garda town, was absolutely beautiful.

The streets are lined with little shops filled with everything relating to lemons and olives. I would have bought everything, if I could have fit it into my suitcase. The ceramics were so fun, and all of the oils were so fragrant and fresh.

After spending the afternoon getting lost and taking photos, it was time to hit the road again to make it in time for check-in at our hotel in Riva del Garda. Both Brian and I agree, that Limone sul Garda ranks highest for towns that you must visit on Lake Garda. Xo Bryn
